What is Sign Language?
*A sign Language
-uses manual communication, body language and lip patterns in stead of sound or voice.
-has developed in deaf communities.
-So many sign languages exist.
*Fingerspelling
-represent alphabetic letters by using one hand or hands.
-ASL has 26 fingerspellings.
-JSL has 50 fingerspellings. (this was created based on ASL fingerspellings in 1931. )
How are ASL and JSL different?
*e.g.1) Thank you.
-Based on American culture.
*ne.g.1) Arigatou.
-Based on Japanese culture.
*ne.g.2)I understand/ I don’t understand.
-Use clear facial expression.
*ne.g.2) Wakarimasu/ Wakarimasenn.
-Use clear mouthing (saying words with or without making sounds.)
Conclusion
*A Sign Language is also a type of communication methods.
*Sign Languages are unique to each region in the world.
*Understanding culture is also greatly beneficial in deaf world as well as hearing world.
